Chapter 169 is the hundred and sixty-ninth chapter of the Gamaran series.

Summary[]
Gensai and Shimon continue their battle, which result in Shimon wounding Gensai.
Plot[]
Years ago, Shimon had killed Shuusuke which Gensai tells him good work. Gensai then says that Shimon is the strongest of his students and that Shimon will be the second leader fo the Kannari School.
At the present, Gensai and Shimon clash which Kamedenbou thinks that Gensai and Shimon's speed are completely even. Gensai then compliments Shimon for improving so much for someone who is scared to kill people. Gensai then says that he should have says for someone who ran away from him. Shimon then backs off and makes a serious face, which Gensai says that he didn't know that Shimon could make a face like that. Shimon then tells Gensai that he did run away but gave up on Gensai and then sheaths his sword. Gensai then says that Shimon is planning on with the battle no matter the cost, and sheaths his sword. Kamedenbou then thinks how both of them have sheath their swords and then thinks about quick-draws and how they are. Kamedenbou then thinks about the Kannari School and how thinks about how serious the two are.
Shimon then says that he will kill Gensai using the techniques that Gensai taught him, which Gensai says that Shimon really hate him. Shimon then comments about that day and how Gensai forced Shimon to kill Shuusuke. Gensai then says that you can't call someone who afraid to kill a swordsmen, which Shimon says that he didn't want to kill without a reason. Shimon then says that Gensai should be aware that his talent exceeds Gensai's. Shimon then launches his sword from his sheath, which Gensai notices that is blocking his field of vision. Shimon then uses Nagisengetsu to wounds Gensai's left eye.
